Review: Real Techniques Brushes.

Real Techniques, the brushes from Sam Chapman (pro makeup artist and one half of Pixiwoo), launched in Boots last month and I've been dying to get my hands on them ever since.
I passed up buying these at IMATS because only the sets were available, and I didn't want to enter into something without trying one first. Cue instant regret.

I originally picked up the Stippling brush last week, after searching every Boots in Central London and finally finding them in the Carnaby St. store (although I have seen them in other stores since). I was so excited to get one at long last! I can confirm that it's beautiful, so much lighter than the Sigma F80 that I used to use for foundation. In fact, I used the F80 today as my RT Stippling brush was wet and I couldn't believe how heavy and hard it is!
The difference is quite a lot to get used to, especially as the Stippling brush is quite a lot smaller so it seems like it does take longer to buff in foundation, but it's much more efficient and the results are so much more flawless.

I have since found myself with the Travel Kit, the Starter Set and the Kabuki Brush. I only had a chance to photo these this morning so I've not had a proper play with all the brushes.
The Kabuki brush is the best powder brush I've used, it's so soft and really does leave my makeup looking flawless. The brush also opens in half which means it'll be so easy to clean!

Overall, I'm incredibly pleased with these brushes. I'm always slightly hesitant when a celebrity releases something with their name on it, but I know Sam is a professional makeup artist primarily - with more than 15 years of experience in the industry, so it's great that she's put her expertise into something which really works, and has an affordable price tag! To pay just over £20 for a good set of brushes is incredible, especially since the likes of MAC etc. have brushes which alone cost over £30.
I honestly think these are excellent quality and do their job brilliantly, and really give higher end brushes a run for their money.

Has anyone tried Real Techniques brushes? And yes, the Core brushes are definitely next on my list!

  8. I have the blush brush and its lovely. Its very soft and bigger than my normal blush brush I'm used to. Its good for blending. I like the fact they are synthetic but so so so soft.

  9. I was going to buy the stippling brush the other day but I was put off by the size, I know I'm going to give in and buy it anyway, so the next time I'm in town I'll get it, along with the core set maybe if it's available in my store. Exciting!

  18. I love the RT brushes, I have had the stippling one for some time however recently purchased the entire collection bar the kabuki and foundation I believe. These are perfect and great value for money and the fact that Sam and Nic use them in their tutorials is testimony to me of how great they really are. x

  21. I went to buy the Stippling brush as i'd heard so many good things about it. Was also going to pick up the buffing brush but annoyingly both had sold out. In the end I just got the standard foundation brush which actually i've found so good. I'm doing a review post on it soon, but so far really good.

I think i'll start building my collection too now :)

  32. The Real Techniques Brushes have really been stirring up a buzz in the beauty world, I'm DYING to get my hands on them! One can never have too many brushes (hey, it lets me cycle them through and not have to wash as often)!
I just wish these were more drugstore available in the states, I don't have an Ulta near me (crazy that I'm even considering driving the 2 hours to go get these)!
That Kabuki brush must be new though, I haven't heard of a 2 in 1 FOLDING brush like that, clever!

  33. I bought the kit when they first came out and, though I LOVE the whole set, I can't possibly live without the stippling brush! Way to make a killer product!!!

  34. I have the starter set and the core collection and I fell in love with the first swipe. My favorite is the buffing brush and I can't wait to purchase the stippling brush and kabuki brush. I don't even know why it's taken me so long to get them! The only bad thing that I would say is that the pointed foundation brush is quite small and the eyeliner brush is too big. BUT, I can still use them for other makeup applications, which is what makes these brushes so genius and versatile. They are affordable, provide a flawless makeup application, and can be washed over and over again, and still remain intact as if you just bought them. Cheers to you RealTechniques!!! Thanks Sam!

  40. I've only just recently taken a proper interest in my make-up and different brands and colours instead of focusing on the cheapest thing I could find, and I had heard bloggers raving about this brand so I picked up the powder brush after real consideration and a powder, on a whim, and it's one of the best brushes ever! I don't even feel the powder being applied to my face, it's brilliant! Definitely suggest you buy this one next. :) xo
