Review: Urban Decay Naked & Naked 2 Palettes.

I've had the original Naked palette for under a year now, and to be honest I don't get a lot of use from it. I find the shades are far too warm for me, and are loaded with glitter. Great for night time, but not so practical for day. A lot of them are also too dark, and just not right for my skin tone.
Some people love this, and as you can see, it's had a bit of use but it's not something I reach for often.

I bought the Naked 2 palette the day it came out. I love to see if products live up to the hype, and over-hyped products are usually the ones everyone wants to read reviews on, which is where I come in.
Yes, it is rather similar to the original Naked palette but I find myself getting a lot more use out of the Naked 2. I find the shades in this palette are a lot more wearable, and can also be blended together a lot easier than the shades in the original palette.
I really love the lighter, more natural shades such as Suspect, Chopper and Bootycall and I think they all work together really nicely.

I think the quality of these palettes are great, there is the issue of fall out due to the insane amount of shimmer (I'm looking at you, original Naked palette) but this can be kept to a minimum by pressing it on and not overloading the brush.
I can't really give advice on which one to buy, it's really down to personal preference. They are reasonably similar, they both offer day and night shades but personally, I'm more suited to the Naked 2 palette as I feel it offers more natural, daywear colours, with the option of building on this to complete a smokey eye for night.

I do think the Naked 2 palette should come with a UD Primer Potion instead of the lipgloss, but then again it does have better packaging - the Naked palette attracts every bit of fluffy ever!

What's your thoughts on the Urban Decay Naked palettes?

  6. I totally get what you mean with the fall out issues particularly in my original naked palette. However I find the original shades much more fitting for me but that's just personal preference! I do wish they had put a UD Primer instead of the lip junkie!

Also, is that a Cath Kidston bedspread? I love it! x

  10. I bought N1 a few months ago and whilst I do like it agree it's a bit too shimmery. Just won the N2 palette and still waiting for it but I do think I will prefer it to the first palette!

  12. I prefer the Naked 2 palette because it's more cool toned but there are some shades in the original one I still reach for a ton still. Not great for travelling as I always want to take both with me but that is so excessive! xx

  13. I haven't got the Naked 2 but I have the original and I have to say that I prefer warm colours so maybe the Naked 2 isn't for me. Also I got my Naked palette when it absolutely first came out and I'm sure it was £27 from House of Fraser, it's gone up in price loads! xxx

  16. This is one of those things that are so hyped in the beauty community but after getting the so similar MUA version and seeing how little use I get out of that I don't think it'd be worth it!

  17. I have been pondering which one to buy for my wedding makeup! I am more a fan of natural colours so I think the Naked 2 looks best for me! Was really useful being able to see both palettes as a comparison :-) x

  21. From reviews I've read, I think both look really good. I think I'd probably go for Naked2 as I don't really use shimmery eyes as often as matte. Great review! x

  25. I love my Naked Palette 1- I use it for pretty much every evening look. I'm really lusting after NP2 though, I've seen the swatches and they look lovely- it does look more of a day time palette which is very appealing. Ah tempting.... x

  28. totally agree with you) naked 2 is better-the packaging is more travel-friendly, the only downside is the lipgloss eww (

  29. becoming increasingly interested in this palette! Definitively agree it should come with the UDPP instead of the lip gloss...

  30. I love my original Naked palette but i just can't justify naked 2 when naked suits me anyway. Though value for money UD palettes are such a bargain. The quality is fantastic.

  31. I was tempted by these but instead bought the Sleek Natural Collection palette which I absolutely adore - significantly cheaper and less shimmer shades which I don't tend to wear. It took a bit of hunting down though!

  32. You know, I've never purchased any Urban Decay products, I'm not sure why. However, I've seen this Naked and Naked 2 palettes around a lot lately in tutorials and in hauls. I'm really considering it. I like the idea of having a lot of neutral colours at your fingertips since I never seem to purchase them.

  33. I really want one, but can't decide for the life of me which is more suitable! Although less glitter does mean naked2 is winning for me

  35. I've heard so SO much about these too palettes, but haven't buy any. When the second one came out, it was in my debenhams virtual shopping bag for ages, but didn't buy it.
In fact I have already a Too Faced palette that I love and use all the time, so I don't think I will use the naked 2 a lot. Plus I already own two palettes of Urban Decay, which means I will have half baked three times (it annoys me because I don't use it). And I find that UO eyeshadows don't last on me at all (even with the PP).
To me it really isn't a must have, but I will probably ask it for my birthday anyway (the colors are really great and not to shimmery this time, and not to warm either, the perfect neutral shades).
