Review: Benefit Sugarlicious Lip and Cheek Kit.
Benefit Sugarlicious Cheek and Lip Kit - £24.50 *
After I posted about the Benefit 'How To Look the Best at Everything' Kit, I also have another beautiful kit from Benefit to show you - this time the Sugarlicious Cheek and Lip kit.
I only recently bought Sugarbomb blusher (review here) which I absolute adore so I'm really pleased to have a little travel size and the Sugarbomb gloss as well. I love the subtle but gorgeous shades of Sugarbomb, it's a really "me" blusher.

Also in the kit is little sample sizes of Benetint and High Beam - another couple of my favourites. I think these kits Benefits have recently released are such a great idea, they're ideal for trying a few products from the brand if you're not sure what works for you, or just to get a few good-sized products for the price of one full sized product from Benefit.
I think the Sugarbomb blush and gloss look absolutely beautiful together, perfect for those, like me, who love a soft shimmery glow to their skin and lips. I can see myself getting a fair amount of use from this kit and I love how you can take the bits out of the box and keep it to store things in.
There are two other variations of the kit (both of which I need) - Feelin' Dandy (which contains the Dandelion products) and Go Tropicoral, this has the Coralista products inside.
What do you think of the kits? Which one will you be picking up?

Review: Benefit How To Look The Best At Everything.
I recently received this 'How To Look the Best at Everything' kit, I had seen it at the Debenhams A/W event a little while ago and loved how compact and cute it was.
I think the base products from Benefit are amazing, I love the Hello Flawless foundation (review here) and absolutely adore the Hello Flawless powder and Boi-Ing concealer.
I love that this includes smaller samples of their best base products, it's a great way to experience the brand without entering in to full size products. I'm really looking forward to trying the light Boi-ing for under my eyes as I already use Boi-ing in 02 for concealing imperfections and it's a great little product.

This Week I've Been Wearing... #1.
Timotei Pure Dry Shampoo*, L'Oreal Rouge Caresse in Aphrodite Scarlet, Illamasqua Cream Blush in Sob, Ojon Instant Restorative Hair Serum*, Aesop Facial Hydrating Serum, Essie Watermelon Nail Polish, Benefit Ultra Shine Lipgloss in Life on the A List, Antipodes Brightening and Correcting Serum*, L'Oreal Touche Magique Concealer
I thought it was about time a new feature hit gh0stparties.com, and it seemed right to post all about the products I've been wearing on a weekly basis. As a blogger who is addicted to all things beauty, it's likely that I'm trying a fair few new products each week, or delving in to my collection and finding old favourites.
The week I've been using everything from dry shampoo to cream blushers, so this is a little insight of the products I've been using daily (and nightly) this week.
I have had Timoteis Dry Shampoo for some time now but only really got round to using it this week. The vintage hair brand have made a come back recently and I'm really in to this dry shampoo. It doesn't leave any white powder or residue and my fine hair is thoroughly cleansed for the whole day!

I've also been a fan of the pink lips, cheeks and nails recently - I pulled out my Illamasqua blush in Sob for the dreary weather and I like the subtle pop of pink on my cheeks. It goes so well with the Benefit lipgloss in Lift on the A-List - one of my favourite glosses, it's a lovely light nude pink with just that right amount of shimmer.
Once again Essies Watermelon nail polish has been a favourite of mine, I really can't get enough of this glossy raspberry shade. I rarely paint my nails with a shade twice in a row, so this has really won me over. It goes so perfectly with my lip colour of choice at the moment, the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse lipstick in Aphrodite Scarlet. I love how easy this makes wearing red lipstick, it's such a glossy shade that works for everyone.
I came across an old favourite of mine in this L'Oreal Touche Magique concealer. I bought the wrong shade some time ago but as it turns out, this works so well for under eyes. I've swapped all my high end under eye products for this inexpensive concealer which covers all!
Lastly, serums have been a big part of my week as you can see! I love this Ojon hair serum on damp hair to keep it in check, my hair really feels so much healthier after using this and it's one I think I'll be using a lot over the coming months.
As for skincare, two of my favourite skincare brands have been top of my most used list. I only have a few samples of this Aesop serum but it does amazing things to my skin and I can tell it's going to be great for keeping my skin hydrated during the colder months.
Along with this, Antipodes Brightening and Correcting serum is working wonders on my blemish prone skin to fade dark marks and keep my skin looking healthy. I love everything I try from Antipodes, and this serum is no exception.

Tips For Growing Hair.
Phyto Phytovolume Shampoo - £8.95 *
Phyto Phytobaume Volume Conditioner - £10.20 *
Denman Tangle Tamer Hair Brush - £6.13
L'Oreal Mythic Oil - £13.55
TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Spray - £5.50 *
Phyto Phytobaume Volume Conditioner - £10.20 *
Denman Tangle Tamer Hair Brush - £6.13
L'Oreal Mythic Oil - £13.55
TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Spray - £5.50 *
One thing I'm always astonished by is how quick my hair grows. At the start of this year it was barely touching my shoulders and I had a fringe at my eyebrows. I'd say the my hair is now a good 4 or 5 inches longer since January and a whole lot thicker and healthier. My hair obviously isn't long as such, but a lot of people ask me for tips on getting their hair to grow so here we are. These are just what has worked for me in the last 8 months and not everything you can do.
01. The first thing to remember is how much heat damages your hair. The last time I used my straighteners was... months ago! I rarely use them or apply any heat to my hair on a regular basis. I know everyone isn't like this, I probably prefer my hair slightly more wavy but I'm lazy and I've also seen how much my hair grows sans heat. Try and reduce the heat you apply to your hair, I use my hairdryer to dry my hair after every wash, so probably 3 times a week but I don't overdo it. I gently brush through and apply serums and/oils and then run my fingers through to separate and leave to dry naturally for around 20-30 minutes - this makes all the difference and you'll notice you really cut down on drying time!
02. Find hair products that suit your hair type. I really wasn't a fan of my hair until I got to know it, it's fine and can get oily and weighed down easily - using heavy conditioners was weighing down my hair and I found myself needing to style it with straighteners or tongs constantly and wash/dry it more often, meaning I was using heat all the time. After I bought shampoo and conditioner for fine hair, like the Phytovolume range from Phyto, my hair sat better and lasted longer between washes. I wasn't reaching for styling tools constantly and my hair wasn't falling flat at every opportunity.
Once a week, if you feel it's necessary, use a hair mask on your hair to keep it in check. I rarely do this as I hate too much conditioner in my hair, so I leave in my normal conditioner for a few extra minutes occasionally. This will prevent damage to hair and keep it silky smooth.
03. Be gentle. Although I have fine hair, the ends can get tangled easily. I stopped using conditioner for a while because I felt that it was just weighing down my hair, so before I found something which was lightweight and suitable for my hairtype, I had tangled, dry ends. Not good. I used to get my boyfriend to brush my hair and it would take so long, even with a Tangle Teezer (which I'm not a fan of), to brush and detangle my otherwise soft hair.
I swear by a small amount of L'Oreal Mythic Oil in the ends of my hair, it detangles and protects and leaves my ends silky smooth. I also use the Denman Tangle Tamer to brush through, it's such a good brush to gently detangle hair without breaking or damaging it. I have recently found out this is a kids brush, but it's one of my favourite hair brushes and very cheap so I really recommend it! It's so gentle and I think this is one of the reasons my hair never seems to break off or have split ends.
04. Protect from heat damage. Using heat is going to happen, as I've already explained not even I can live without it and I'm pretty laid back when it comes to my hair. I swear by a quick spritz of the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protection spray, not only does it protect against heat damage but it also leaves hair silky smooth! Great for those who rely on straighteners to tame unruly hair.
05. Eat well and take supplements. Unfortunately for me, I have a rather awful immune system which means I have to take vitamins regularly or I get sick. I was brought up eating well so it's kind of stuck with me, and the added vitamins are probably another contributing factor to my good hair growth.
I don't take anything special, usually just Multivitamins but I make sure to get Iron, Vitamin C, Vitamin B and Zinc on a regular basis. I don't take anything specifically for my hair, these are just to keep me well but a balanced diet will help with hair growth.

Effortless Everyday Makeup.
Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl in Nude *
MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base - £19.50
Dr Jart Water Fuse BB Cream - £18 *
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - £4.19 *
As the months get colder, Kate gets lazier. And sometimes, more inventive with the makeup routine. On days where I've sacrificed a well made up look for an extra ten minutes in bed, these are the products I reach for to keep my makeup looking fresh and effortless.
I always start these hurried mornings with the MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base, it's one of those "do all" products that I adore. It's the only primer I have that gives a glow to the skin whilst also smoothing it over. It also helps with blotting away excess oil - perfect for post run to catch the train! My base looks flawless after using this little wonder, and I follow it with the Dr Jart Water Fuse BB Cream - another product that I rate highly. This is good coverage, easy and quick to apply and leaves my skin looking healthy without heavy coverage. It does help to really coverage imperfections, but for any other blemishes showing through, I use my trusty Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. An absolute favourite of mine, I will never be without it!
I continue the slap dash makeup routine with yet another Holy Grail product of mine, the Stila Convertible Colour blush in Lilium. This is the perfect pop of colour to make your skin look alive and ready for the day. I pop this on to my cheeks with warm fingers and quickly work in with a Stippling brush. As this is a lip and cheek product, I also dab a little bit on my lips for an effortless but gorgeous lip colour.
After the base is done, I spend a bit of time making sure my eyes are looking awake and bright! I swear by nude eyeliners to give my tired eyes a boost, I have issues with my eyes and they often look red so a nude eyeliner is one of my essential products. I don't wear any other eyeliner but nude, it conceals redness and makes eyes look so bright and open. I use this new Rimmel number to line along my waterline and also the inner corner of my eyes. You'll be surprised at how much this does for you!
My brows frame my whole face so they're never missed off my routine. I quickly brush through my brows to tame with the HD Brows Brow Beater, it keeps them in place all day and gives them the perfect shape. I then fill in and define with my favourite pencil, the Laura Mercier Brow Pencil. This makes my brows look so strong but natural.
Lastly, a quick slick of my favourite mascara, the Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume, and I'm finished!
This whole look takes no time at all but my makeup looks flawless and fresh, without the pale complexion and tired eyes!
What are your tips for an effortless makeup routine?

Product of the Month: Origins Make A Difference Skin Rejuvenating Treatment.
I'd been eyeing this up for a while before I bought it, but decided I didn't need any more skincare products. I then saw Lily review this, and she raved about it so much that I popped it back on my list of wants and finally picked it up a few weeks ago.
My skin isn't too bad at the moment, I don't suffer from blemishes and oily skin like I used to but my skin isn't as bright and glowing as it could be. Some days it feels slightly rough and looks quite dull and I really wanted something to smooth over my skin and give it a boost.
I applied some of the Origins Make A Difference Skin Rejuvenating Treatment after cleansing one night and immediately my skin felt smoother. The next morning when I woke up, my skin felt incredible smooth and soft - not like anything I had experienced before.
I have been using it every night and some mornings ever since and my skin looks so much brighter and clearer, as well as being a lot smoother.
I apply moisturiser after this, as I don't think this should be used alone. My skin feels like it needs some moisturiser afterwards so I usually apply my usual night cream and I don't find it too heavy.
The change in my skin is just lovely, I actually have a little feel of my face when I wake up in the morning because it's always so soft and even Jordan noticed a difference! Definitely worth every penny, despite the hefty price tag - give it a whirl and I guarantee you'll be waking up and stroking your face!

Review: Liz Earle Rose and Lavender Hot Cloth Cleanser.
I've been a fan of Liz Earle since forever, especially the Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, so I was over the moon when I got this special edition rose and lavender version through the post.
Liz Earle have created this special version for the Prince's Trust, with £2 from every purchase going towards the work of the charity.
The cleanser itself is the same amazing formula, but with added rose and lavender essential oils, making this the perfect evening time cleanser.
The smell is subtle and natural, definitely not overpowering but a lovely change from the usual scent. The consistency is exactly the same, a soft buttery cleanser which removes all makeup and leaves skin so smooth.

I really like the change in scent, it's smells lovely and I do like lavender in night time products as it's relaxing and soothing for mind and body. The product itself is really lovely to use, just like the original version and I love reaching for this at night to cleanse my skin of makeup and dirt.
The special edition bottle is a little more pricey at £19.75 for 150ml but it's a welcome feeling knowing you're helping the Prince's Trust at the same time.
What do you think of the new Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser? The packaging is beautiful!

Review: Dior Amber Diamond Powder Shimmer.
Dior's Amber Diamond is probably one of the most talked about highlighters, and if you've followed my blog for a while now, you'll know that I'm all about highlighters and the glow they give my skin.
It's probably quite surprising that I didn't own Amber Diamond until a week ago, but I've been wearing it constantly ever since.
It was reported that Dior were going to discontinue the Amber Diamond and Rose Diamond Powders but apparently after some backlash, they've gone back on this decision. I'm really glad they decided to change their mind, although it was probably a bit of good PR there too as I know quite a few people rushed out to buy it when they heard it was going to be discontinued. It also drew my attention to the glowy product!
Most of my highlighters are more of a pinky toned finish, so I went for Amber Diamond as I thought it would be the perfect glowing cheek product for Autumn. I was absolutely correct as this little wonder really seems to agree with me and my skin tone, it highlights and flatters everywhere it's applied.
It's described as an "all over face powder" so it can be used anywhere on the face to give you a subtle but brilliant radiant finish. I usually apply it to my cheeks (as in the above pictures) and occasionally down my nose, also.
It's a little bit pricey for what it is, but I think it's one of those products that everyone must own. You only need a small amount so I have no doubts that this will last me some time. I know I'll eventually add the Rose Diamond to my collection also!
What do you think of Amber Diamond?

How To: Neat, Arched Brows.
HD Brows Brow Beater - £14.95 *
HD Brows Tweezers - £19.96 *
My look only comes together once I've filled in my brows, although I don't do much to them. I usually do my eyebrows last, and I find they really frame my face and my makeup falls in to place after they're finished.
I usually get my eyebrows waxed every couple of months to make sure the shape is accurate and done by someone who knows. In-between waxes I use the HD Brows Precision Tweezers, they are so accurate and keep my brows the right shape and really neat.
On a daily basis, I reach for the HD Brows Brow Beater, a product which shapes the brows and sets them in place (over time helping to tame unruly brows in the long run too). I find this step is really important in getting a good shape and keeping the arch shape that I like. This dries and keeps my brows looking neat and tidy for the day ahead.
I usually get them a quick brush through with my Real Techniques Brow Groomer, or any sort of brow comb, before using the Laura Mercier Brow Pencil to fill in.
I went for Soft Brunette in the brow pencil, but obviously get a shade that matches your brows. I don't like mine dark, just the right shade to match my hair colour. I carefully follow my natural brow shape and just dense out the brow and make it more defined. I don't like over the top brows and find a brow pencil gives a natural shape without being too dark or looking fake and drawn on.

I've been using this technique for the last year now, and I love how defined yet natural my brows look. I'm looking to try some of the Anastasia products, but at the moment I'm really happy with the way my brows look and the products I'm using.

I'm Good, I'm Gone.
New Look Teens Studded Boots - £22.99
I'm housesitting my parents house this week while they're in Israel & Cyprus, which is lovely but the internet in these rural parts is horrendous - todays post was meant to be a new video but I can't upload it. I'm trying to get round this so hopefully it'll be up tomorrow!
I wore this outfit on Saturday when Jordan and I were browsing Byres Road for some bits and pieces for the flat. It's the first time I'd worn this ASOS peplum shirt which I got in the sale, as well as these lovely boots from New Look. They were only £22.99 as I got them from the Teen section (they go up to a size 6 so what's the difference!) and I love them, I've been looking for a cute pair of studded boots for so long. You can see a better picture here.
I also bought this H&M bowler hat after seeing it in the window of their Edinburgh store weeks ago. I got it in Glasgow but I had to ask one of my friends, Corinne, who works there to get it from the back as it wasn't out on shelves. You may find it in some stores, I couldn't find it online BUT I did find these two amazing bags which I absolutely must buy, here & here. I always love H&M in Autumn!
Finally, the Zara bag pictured is of course the one I posted about a few weeks ago. A lot of you said you had got yourself one, too. I love it and it goes with everything!
I filmed a new video last week which is another style type video, I'll try and get it up asap!

Review: Esteé Lauder Violet Underground Collection.
Esteé Lauder Violet Underground Palette - £40 *
Esteé Lauder Violet Underground Lipstick in Black Cassis - £19.50 *
Esteé Lauder Violet Underground Lipstick in Black Cassis - £19.50 *
When I saw the latest Esteé Lauder collection, Violet Underground, I knew I had to have it, although it's completely out of my comfort zone.
Both the palette and the lipstick shown are not shades I'd usually go for, I don't even own anything like this! But with Autumn and Winter at our doorsteps, I thought I'd opt for some fitting shades for once and so, the vampy look was born!
I actually really like the dark lips, I thought my boyfriend would be horrified but he commented on them saying they were "different" which is a good thing.
I absolutely adore the eye makeup, which was done using the more "me" colours of the palette - a gorgeous neutral, satin beige (bottom left) and a rich, chocolate brown (top right) and I think this will become an evening look for me. As I don't wear eyeliner, I rely on eyeshadow and mascara to open my eyes and these shades together really do make eyes stand out.
Although this look isn't something I'd usually go for, I love how Autumnal and different it is! I reckon I'll be whipping out the Black Cassis lipstick once again... what do you think?
