Revlon Sweet Boutique Competition & A/W Lip Butters.

I was quite excited when this parcel from Revlon showed up, I love creamy but pigmented lip products and I'm already a fan of the Lip Butters from Revlon, and I adore the autumnal berry shades.
These lip products are perfect for the colder months, my lips get extremely dry so anything matte goes out the window and in come the nourishing, easy to apply lip butters.

I'm really impressed with the application of these, they go on smoothly and make my lips look plump and hydrated. The colour shade is great, I have a few other summer pinks and corals but I'm definitely all about these oxblood and mulberry shades as soon as cold weather hits. My favourite out of the three has to be Raspberry Pie (on the left) as it's a really rich dark plum colour.

Revlon are running an awesome promotion on their Facebook page at the moment, every day the brand are giving away 100 Lip Butters until the 4th December - all you have to do is like their page and go to the Sweet Boutique App. It's very simple and definitely worth the few minutes it takes.

What do you think of the berry autumn/winter shades from Revlon?

Gift Ideas: Feel Unique Gift Sets.

As Christmas is around the corner (hooray!), I thought I'd share some ideas for gift buying. FeelUnique came to my aid with their excellent gift set section, and I picked out a few which would be great for best friends, Mums and sisters or even yourself if you're hinting to your loved ones.

I usually encourage my female family members and friends to try new products, so Christmas is a great time to get them trying brands they might not otherwise have heard of. Feel Unique is perfect for this as it stocks so many brands, there's something for everyone and it's not too hard to narrow down a few good gift sets that could be stocking fillers or a main present.

First up is the This Works Perfect Skin Set; included is the Perfect Hands hand cream, Tired Eye serum and Perfect Cleavage for neck and chest. They're all great sizes, with the hand cream being a pretty standard 50ml, a full size eye serum and 15ml Perfect Cleavage. This Works are a lovely brand and I reckon this kit would be loved by anyone who receives it - perhaps a mum or sister. They're also a natural brand so it's ideal for someone who likes to keep their skincare free of nasties.
If you haven't tried This Works, a kit like this will introduce you to the brand and ensure you get a feel for it before buying lots of full sized products.

Next up is the Elemental Herbology Weekend Facial, a handy little kit that contains the Facial Glow Radiance Peel, Facial Detox Purifying Mask and the Facial Souffle Hydration and Repair mask all together in a little pouch with a muslin cloth. Elemental Herbology is one of my favourite skincare brands as of late, so I picked this out because I know the products work well and I, myself, would be over the moon to unwrap this! It's perfect for putting on your own wishlist or buying for a best friend as it's a good size and contains a few products to help her get a feel for the brand if she's never tried them.

Lastly, the L'Occitane Discover Our Shea Butter is a gift you can't go wrong with. The L'Occitane products are lovely, don't irritate and smell heavenly without being too much. It's always good to keep something like this on the side incase you've missed out someone from work or your best friend is being overly generous this year. It's quite a generic but gorgeous gift and not too pricey. I love L'Occitane but it's not a brand I think to get for myself all that often so it's great to be treated at Christmas.

I hope this has been helpful for your wishlist or nailing a few gift ideas for friends and family. I tend to go for non-specific gift sets that contain lovely products for anyone, and then get a few more personal things to add to them for my mum and brothers girlfriends (as I'm sister-less).

What do you think of these Feel Unique gift sets?

Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar, Liverpool.

Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar, the sparkly walls of Sisley, the perfume library, BeautyMart, a Chocolate themed room for the STRIP waxing, my recreation of the 'Love Thyself' campaign.

For beauty lovers across the UK and beyond, the opening of the Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar was exciting news. I was lucky enough to be invited to the store in Liverpool on Saturday for a tour and a treatment. I hadn't been to Liverpool before and I was impressed by how lovely the shopping experience was.

Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar is a new concept store which has 3 floors all dedicated to beauty. You can shop some amazing brands, including NARS, Shu Uemura, Laura Mercier and Jo Malone (to name just a few!) on the ground and first floors before heading up to the second floor for an array of treatments such as HD Brows, STRIP waxing and James Read at the Studio spray tans - all held in discreet treatment rooms. I was very impressed by the sound of the STRIP waxing (which you can read more about here) and I was even lucky enough to be treated to my first ever spray tan by Fake Bake in the James Read Studio.
You can't go to Liverpool and not have a spray tan, right? I'm not really a tanned kinda girl but the girls in the treatment area are amazing, very welcoming and professional, and I left feeling really happy with my new bronzed self.

I can say, after a few days of wear and many compliments, that I'm really, really impressed with my Fake Bake spray tan, there's been no streaks or patches and the colour is beautiful, not too subtle and not too overdone. The Studio by James Read is kitted out in all the latest professional equipment and the girls make you feel really comfortable, so whether it's your first time or you've been going for months, you'll feel like you belong.

After a drink in the Champagne Bar (yep, it's as glam as it sounds) and a quick look around the offerings of the 1st floor, including a Nails Inc nail bar, BLINC lash extensions and even a BeautyMart section to shop all your favourite products, I had a go at recreating the 'Love Thyself' campaign from Harvey Nichols, which you can read about in more detail here. The campaign is great, I think it's perfect for the store and it was really fun recreating it with the help of a mini-studio set up in the personal shopping area.

Lastly, I had a little shop around the store before I left. The shopping experience is great, it's not over-crowded and everything is easy to find. I love the way the perfumes are laid out like a library, it looks gorgeous and much more welcoming than locked cabinets.
The store itself is beautiful, think lots of sparkles and lux decor.

Overall, I had an amazing day and it was lovely of Harvey Nichols to invite me. I'd absolutely recommend you check out the Beauty Bazaar, there's something for everyone and a great way of finding new products and brands.
Check out this link for more information on the store, including treatments, brands and prices.

This Week I've Been Wearing... #10.

I've had a switch around of my hair, makeup and skincare recently and found some real winners in amongst my stash!

You've probably heard me banging on about my favourite skincare product at the moment - the NUDE Miracle Mask (review here), it's changed my skin so much that I had to pick up this NUDE Purifying Cleansing Wash (a real bargain too, I reckon!). NUDE are quickly becoming my favourite skincare brand and I can't tell you how much I love this cleanser - it makes such a difference to my skin as well as removing all my makeup. It's great for combination skin types as it refines skin and makes it feel so smooth and soft. If there's one thing you should pick up, it's the NUDE Miracle Mask or this Purifying Cleanser.

My hair is in desperate need of a restyle, I'm getting bored of it and I'm not sure how to wear it. This Bumble and Bumble Brilliantime is a product that gives it a sexy, sultry "slept in" look but also adding a lovely shine to it. You only need a small amount, I run a blob through towel dried hair before blow-drying, it doesn't have huge affects, but leaves a sort of subtle, shiny but effortlessly messy look to your hair. It's fast becoming one of my most used products for my locks.

I've been giving this Liz Earle Signature Foundation a whirl recently, I got the shade Ivory which is perfect for me, a fair yellowed toned shade. This is really lightweight but provides great coverage, all imperfections are blurred and skin looks flawless. I'm really impressed with the wear and finish, and it's buildable too (although I'd put it at medium but natural coverage).

Next up, I finally, finally got my hands on the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse in Dating Coral - I've been after this one for some time now and I love the shade just as much as I thought I would. It's lovely and glossy - great for those with dry lips and the colour is bright. I absolutely love these and I really recommend picking a few up.

Lastly, I've got two eye products which have worked their way into my most used stash of late. The first is MACs Groundwork paintpot, a nice rich caramel brown with just a hint of shimmer. I wasn't expecting to like this at first as it doesn't look too exciting in the pot, but as it happens it's one of my favourite products. Sweep it over lids and a little under the lower lash line to make eyes pop!
I've been giving eyeliner a whirl lately and I must say, I'm really impressed with this L'Oreal Super Liner Perfect Slim, it's perfect for doing winged eyeliner and getting a really accurate line. I used it in my 60s Makeup Tutorial video with ASOS, so have a look to see how I did it.

I'm really impressed with this weeks picks, I'll definitely be getting more from NUDE and I'm even thinking about wearing eyeliner more - whoa! What are your thoughts?

This Week I've Been Wearing... #9.

Ooh I've been rummaging through my baskets and drawers this week, I'm not sure how so many of my favourite products end up at the bottom of my stash! I've been all about big hair, fresh skin and bold eyes lately...

First up, I have a new hair product in my life - the Alterna Caviar Volume Creme. Who doesn't want full volumed hair? This has become a staple in my haircare routine lately, it's easy to apply (just a simple sweep through the roots of towel-dried hair) and doesn't leave any residue, just big, sexy hair!
It's free of any nasties and doesn't dirty hair so it's an absolute winner in my eyes!

I somehow forgot about this Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum, with so many lotions and potions to try I often get so caught up with favourite products that I forget about old loves. Nevermind, this serum has showed its true colours this week and I've fallen right back in love with it. I slap a bit on at night before moisturiser and my skin drinks it up, cue beautiful, smooth skin in the morning (perfect for winter and for when you've got a spot).
Another skincare product that has caught my eye recently is this NUDE Treatment Oil. I only have a sample size of this which I got free from Space NK, but it's enough to leave a big impact on me and I reckon a full size of this will be working its way into my routine pretty swiftly! This quickly absorbs into my skin overnight and feels delicious.

Next up is another sample, this time perfume. I've never been a fan of this Paco Rabanne Lady Million perfume before but after giving it a whirl for the first time, I like the scent on my skin. It's quite sweet and fresh and not too overpowering.

This Stila In The Light palette has completely bowled me over, it contains all the shades you'll ever need (in my opinion!) - plenty for day wear, a couple of matte brows and some darker, more sultry shades for evening. The shades are easy to apply and work with and I haven't put it down since I first got it!

What do you think of this weeks picks?

Antipodes Aura Honey Manuka Mask.

Using a face mask a couple of times a week has been one of the main things that has helped to improve my skin over the last few months, just yesterday I was looking in the mirror and thinking how good my skin looks (today I woke up with a spot, typical).

I've been using this Antipodes Aura Honey Manuka mask for a couple of months now and my skin loves it. Being a New Zealander means I'm familiar with Manuka Honey, an ingredient which helps to hydrate the skin. Since using natural skincare like Antipodes, my skin has improved so much and I rarely ever get blemishes.
I usually use a detox mask before this one (yep, I'm a mask fanatic) to cleanse my skin thoroughly, meaning when it comes to using this Honey Manuka mask, my skin is ready and pores have been unclogged. It tingles slightly which lets me know its working, and afterwards my skin feels really cleansed, smooth and so much brighter.

This is the perfect mask for winter, it's hydrating and anti-oxidising and ideal for when your skin needs a boost. It's one of my favourite treatments to apply and I always see immediate results.

What are your thoughts on Antipodes?

How To: Simple Nude Lip.

Yep, you read it correctly. While everyone else is raving about bold, out there lips, I've fallen for sultry nudes (lips that is). It's probably not the best pick for the cold months as nude lipstick shows up every millimetre of uncared for lips but I think I've nailed the products that will see us through.

It's all about prep, the only time I pay any attention to looking after my lips is in winter - probably because I become more aware of them and their drying ways. I recently bought the LUSH Popcorn Lip Scrub, a product that I could never live without now. Morning and night (and throughout the day if it's really, truly essential) I apply a little of this to my lips and scrub, it's not as messy as it sounds as the sugar isn't soaking with the oil so it can be easily wiped (or licked) away.
Next up, one of my favourite and most reliable lip balms is the NUXE Reve De Miel Lip Balm stick, it's less messy and more hygienic than the pot (although this is perfect for overnight!) and great for on the go. Simply sweep over lips regularly, including after a good scrub, to ensure they're the best they could be in prep for the nude lip that's coming.

To begin this simple nude lip, I always start with a bit of MAC In Synch Lip Liner, a lovely soft pinky nude which goes perfectly with my chosen lipstick. I line the lips carefully and fill in with the pencil to guarantee some extra long-wear out of the lipstick.
Next, I apply a small amount of Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 113, a lovely bare matte shade which I've really fallen in love with. For an even more matte look, pat with your finger - or if you are prone to dry lips, slick on a coat of gloss.

How easy was that? Four steps to Lana Del Rey lips. What do you reckon?

NUDE Miracle Mask.

I'm always, always on the lookout for new skincare products that will change my life. I've suffered from acne and spot prone skin since my teens and, although it's better now, I still always want to improve it and find products which help to make it look as flawless and clear as possible.

I've had this NUDE Miracle Mask on my wishlist for a while now - the price being the main factor that was putting me off - and decided to jump the gun and purchase it whilst feeling naughty in Space NK a little while ago.
This exfoliating mask uses natural AHAs as well as rice beads to reveal flawless looking skin. You massage in the mask with fingers first and let the gentle rice beads work their magic on the dead skin cells, and then leave it to sit for 5 minutes.

This aims to minimise and refine pores, smooth over skin and help to reveal flawless kin. I love a mask that tingles, I feel like it's working its potent magic on me!
This Miracle mask really is a miracle product, it might be a little harsh for some skins but mine's pretty tough so I didn't think twice about slapping this on. I use it once a week for a really deep cleanse and exfoliation and can't believe the difference it makes to my skin - it's definitely worth the price tag!

Have you tried this Miracle Mask?

Flawless Base Favourites.

I've always been a big one for priming, I have a whole drawer dedicated to these products which aim to smooth and perfect so I've picked out my favourites in a bid to explain how to achieve a flawless complexion.

First up is this Sisley Global Perfect Pore Minimiser, a smoothing concentrate that sits somewhere between a serum and a primer, I apply this pre-moisturiser for an added boost. It instantly refines as well as working to improve the overall finish of skin, meaning pores are looking minimal before we even touch the rest.

For moisturiser, I can't live without Origins VitaZing moisturiser, if the promise of an SPF15 doesn't swing you then the "post-holiday glow" sheer tint certainly will. It's not like a tinted moisturiser, the effect is much more subtle but it provides an instant glow to the skin. Once you start using this, you're hooked, it helps to cover blemishes and redness and I use a lot less foundation after applying this wonder product.

Next up is a primer which is quickly working its way up the ranks of the primer drawer - BECCAs Resurfacing Primer minimises pores and fine lines and really makes a dramatic difference to my skin. I wasn't completely sold on this until I watched back one of my YouTube tutorials and saw it in action, my skin looked a hell of a lot better afterwards and since then I've not put this down.

Finally, this Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector in the shade Rose Shimmer adds a lovely glow to my skin, unlike all the other illuminating primers I own, this one is a warmer shade and makes a big difference to my otherwise dull skin. Use it alone, with another primer or added to foundation for a more subtle finish. I like to apply this all over but it can just be used on specific areas such as cheekbones or down the nose. If you like a more radiant finish to your skin, I'd definitely go for this one!

What are your flawless skin picks?

This Week I've Been Wearing... #8.

These types of posts mean I really make use of products in my stash and I'm always adjusting my routines and finding new favourites. Here's what I've been using this week...

I picked up this Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Body Milk in Boots as part of a 3 for 2, I didn't exactly need it but I've been using it a lot as it's easy to squeeze out a few pumps of it after a shower and slather it on. It smells heavenly (obviously) and it's perfect for keeping up the essential winter skin maintenance without any hassle.
Another product I haven't gone without in the last few days is this Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub, it's smells (and tastes) gorgeous and keeps my lips in check. It's pretty mess free and is a simple step in my routine, just dab on lips, scrub at them and wipe/lick off!

One of my favourite cleansers is this Eve Lom Morning Time cleanser, it's a balm that refreshes and brightens the skin, deeply cleansing for the day ahead. I like this because it's quick, easy and doesn't require a cloth (although I do always use one!) so it's perfect for mornings when I'm perhaps a little bit slow...

I've been using this Sisley Global Perfect Pore Minimiser every day since I got it, it's a skincare product - somewhere between a serum and a primer - to smooth over skin and minimise pores. It's no secret that I love serums and primers so this is a winner for me. It makes such a big difference and my base goes on so much smoother. It's a pricey little bottle so it's definitely for special events!
This sample of Origins Night-A-Mins moisturiser has lasted me so long, I'm only about half way through and it feels like I've had it months. It's nourishing without being too rich and the perfect night cream (apparently it also helps you sleep!), it's meant to exfoliate away dead skin cells while you snooze - amazing!

Lastly, this bottle of Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb was to replace my 100ml bottle that's almost finished. I've been wearing this for years and years (although not every day) so it's a familiar scent. It smells lovely and is one of my favourite to wear. You only need a spritz so a little goes a very long way!

Stila Convertible Colour in Gerbera.

This is my third blush from the Stila Convertible Colour line, I had been eyeing this up for a couple of months before I finally purchased it last week. This one isn't sold in Boots (that I can see) and well, Space NK is a little bit more of a walk away from me (the height of laziness, you say).

The Convertible Colour products are made to give a flush of colour to lips and cheeks, although personally I only really use them for cheeks. They're creamy and pigmented and blend in perfectly for a hint of colour. I prefer a minimal makeup look so these really suit me. I apply a little bit to my cheeks with my fingers and gently blend with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush - I find this technique to be the best for a minimal look (you can see me apply it in this tutorial video)

Gerbera is one of my favourite shades from the range, it's a lovely pinky peach which just melts in to my skin. I love how well it goes with my complexion but I can imagine it going so well with tanned skin, too.
I highly recommend this range of blushers as they really are the perfect formula for the perfect cheek colour.

Origins A Perfect World BB Cream.

I've had a mountain of base products to trial recently, but there's one that has stuck out recently and gone straight in to my daily makeup routine - Origins A Perfect World BB cream.
I love Origins, as you will know if you've followed my blog for more than three days, I think their ethics are great and their products always do wonders, but I'm still on the fence about BB creams. I like a good coverage foundation, even if I do buff it in very lightly.

A Perfect World is a creamy BB cream which covers imperfections without looking caked, and also works to hydrate the skin. I found that this product went on nicely, I've used my Real Techniques Stippling brush and also the Sigma F80 brush and both applied it with a soft, smooth finish - you can see me using it in this video. It doesn't sit on the skin, but blends in and covers everything from redness to dark marks which pleases me!
On top of this, and this is the factor that set it aside from all my other base products, it left my skin with the most beautiful radiant finish. We're not talking sweaty or shimmery, just a really healthy glow to my skin that I adore.

I find this lasts well, I have used a powder on top for a little top up on my T-zone, but this may not be necessary for everyone.
Overall, if you're looking for a light coverage base which gives a radiant finish to your skin, Origins A Perfect World is for you.

What do you think of BB creams?

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base.

I spotted this little pot whilst browsing the Bobbi Brown counter recently and just had to have it. Vitamin Enriched Face Base is kind of like a moisturiser and primer in one, it not only hydrates skin but also smooths it over for a flawless makeup finish.

I've been using this daily as a moisturiser, it's quite creamy and rich without being tacky and heavy, and it has a really fresh, lovely scent that makes you think it'll do a lot of good for your skin. It leaves my skin feeling moisturised without being greasy and smooths over pores and blemishes to leave a more flawless finish.
I used this in my glowing skin tutorial so head over to YouTube if you'd like to see it in action.

I love products which double up or save time, and the idea of a primer and moisturiser in one really appeals to me. It's oil-free but great for all skin types. The hydrating factors mean makeup looks fresh all day and the shea butter within means skin is smoothed over and makeup sits beautifully.

Burgundy Sleeves.

Hat - H&M
Jacket - Missguided *
Top - New Look
Bag - ZARA
Necklace - New Look
Jeans - Topshop
Boots - H&M

These photos were taken on a rainy Autumn day but my wonderful boyfriend still snapped away for me, despite the weather! I'm definitely more about comfort over style when it comes to these cold months, this gorgeous jacket from Missguided has been keeping me so snug! I adore the sleeves and it goes so well with everything.

I've been reading 'Before I Go To Sleep' by SJ Watson recently and I can't put it down (thanks to all who suggested it!), the thing about having a Kindle is that you can read in many situations you wouldn't be able to (or maybe not quite as easily) if you were holding a real book, if Jordan is out I'll often eat entire meals engrossed in a book.

I thought I would mention that I put a lot of my clothes on eBay if anyone is interested (link), I'm trying to have a clear out as my stuff is mounting up. Eeek.

What do you think of my casual, somewhat French-looking outfit?

This Week I've Been Wearing... #7.

As you can probably tell, it's been a week of pampering. Whenever the cold weather sets in, it's fight, flight or freeze in my opinion. I chose fight, so I've picked out my favourite nourishing, hydrating and exfoliating products to keep me on top form.

I've already proclaimed my love for the Dove Nourishing Oil Care range, and this Dove Nourishing Oil Care Regenerating mask has to be my favourite haircare product at the moment. Like the entire range, it smells simply incredible. I leave it on for 5-10 minutes once a week and my hair feels like silk.
Another Origins product has caught my eye... and skin... this week, and that's the Origins Never A Dull Moment Skin Brightening Polisher. It's not quite the abrasive scrub I was hoping for, but rather a thick cleanser with exfoliating particles. It does, however, do the job and my skin feels beautifully smooth after use. I'll do a full review on this soon.

After using the aforementioned, I use a little bit of my new favourite skincare item. Okay, one of. I had been eyeing up this Nude Miracle Mask for some time before biting the bullet and handing over my bank card in Space NK. It's an exfoliating mask which manually (very gently and naturally, using rice beads) exfoliates with tiny particles within, but also using natural AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) to buff away dead skin cells. After one use my skin looked and felt incredible, although it's a little more pricey than what I would usually pay, I'm incredibly impressed with this.

Next up is the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush body wash, a delicious foamy shower gel which, of course, smells heavenly. I saw a few Instagram snaps of this and I was running out of my favourite Soap & Glory body wash so I picked this up as a replacement. It smells like mojitos, citrus-y and sugary and just plain gorgeous!

Whilst in Boots, I couldn't help myself and popped Essie Midnight Cami in to my already overflowing basket. I love, love, love dark, inky nails and this had to be mine. It's the most perfect dark navy shade with a subtle shade - it's very autumnal and I think it will be gracing my nails an awful lot over the coming weeks.

Lastly, well what would a Sunday post from gh0stparties be without a blusher?! This one is Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Fresh Melon, I used it in my Glowing Skin Tutorial and I just love how it wakes up my skin and completes any look.

Origins Make a Difference Plus Rejuvenating Treatment & Moisturiser.

A little while back, I blogged about my favourite skincare product at the time (see the post here) and a few of my lovely, helpful readers explained that they had gone to the counter to find out it was being discontinued. So, before I began petitioning against this, I contacted the girls at Origins to see what was happening to the skincare product that had changed my life (okay, skin) so much.

As it happens, the products were just being re-released - a better formular and now with a moisturiser and an ultra thick version of the moisturiser too. It is now known as Origins Make a Difference Plus Rejuvenating Treatment, and as far as I can see it's still the same great results as the original tub.
The range helps to encourage hydration in the skin, this is dependant on an enzyme which helps to keep moisture levels in check, and so the new range of products have added ingredients (lychee and watermelon extract) to trigger the enzyme and encourage hydrated skin.

The new treatment gel still feels the same as the old version, but the new ingredients are far more effective. The introduction of the moisturiser has pleased me as I never knew what to apply after the treatment, I didn't want anything too heavy or rich as the treatment itself felt enough, but I did wake up in the morning and feel like my skin should have had a night cream. The moisturiser is light and can be used morning and night to maintain hydration levels and keep skin moisturised.

Before using these products, I never thought of my skin needing hydration, it never has dry patches and I don't use products for dry skin. My skin, however, was extremely dehydrated and appeared dull due to the lack of moisture within the skin. This range of products has completely sorted this out and my skin is so much healthier and clearer now I'm helping to combat this dehydration.
I've also found that my acne scars from years ago have cleared up and any current blemishes haven't scarred like they usually would.

Overall, this skincare range has gone to the top of my list of most favourable products. They have completely turned around my skin and I'm so impressed with how clear and radiant my skin looks now.

What do you think of the range?
